Apple Spends $173.45 to Manufacture an iPhone 5C
Do you know how much money the Cupertino company spends to manufacture an iPhone 5C? IHS iSuppli has published the bill of materials (BOM) cost for iPhone 5C. As we know it is available in two models. According to IHS, Apple spends $166.45 to manufacture 16GB iPhone 5C and $175.85 to manufacture 32GB iPhone 5C. The Cupertino company spends extra $7 manufacturing cost for iPhone 5C. It indicates that Apple spends less than $190 to manufacture the low cost iOS smartphone.
Bill of Materials (BOM) cost of 16GB iPhone 5C is $166.45 while the bill of materials cost of 32GB iPhone 5C is $175.85. The cost of components used to manufacture an 16GB iPhone 5C is $9.40 less than the cost of components used to manufacture an 32GB iPhone 5C. For those who don’t know, BOM stands for Bill of Materials estimate, which allows users to know the impact of a product launch on the revenues of the company. You should note that other costs involved in product advertising, shipping, marketing are not included in Bill of Materials (BOM) cost. IHS iSuppli has already published Bill of Materials (BOM) cost for iPhone 5S, iPhone 4S, iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 3G, iPad 2 and iPad. Bill of materials cost of 16GB iPhone 5C is $190.70 and the bill of materials cost for iPhone 4S is $188.
According to IHS, the Cupertino company spends $9.50 for DRAM, $13.00 for processor, $11.00 for camera, $3.45 for battery, $6.90 for power management, $41.00 for display and touch screen. These parts are used in the low cost iPhone. The Cupertino company has recently started selling this device. Now you can buy it from Apple online store. 16GB model of the low cost iOS smartphone will cost $99 and 32GB model of the low cost iOS smartphone will cost $199 with a two-year contract. If you want to buy it without any contract, then you have to pay $549 for 16GB iPhone 5C and $649 for the 32GB iPhone 5C.
