Samsung Galaxy S4 Vs Galaxy Note 2
So this time, it is Samsung vs. Samsung; not typically, but in a roundabout way because today, we are going to compare the two Samsung Giants – which are the Samsung Galaxy S4 and the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 ( the father of Phablets ) . The Samsung Galaxy S4 was announced just a few weeks ago where as the Galaxy Note 2 is already 6 months old now. But while keeping in mind the massive sales the Galaxy Note 2 had – which were about 6 million in the Q4 of 2012; we must consider it as a competition for its fellow smartphone – the Samsung Galaxy S4.
The comparison done hereunder is all based on factual specifications of both the smartphones, however, in some places, critical opinions are given after deep research.
Design and Display
The design and the build of both these devices are not too much debatable as they come from the same manufacturers – Samsung. The assets of both these devices are enclosed in a plastic casing and even the design of both these devices is the same. The only one major difference in the physical looks of both these devices is the size, the Galaxy Note 2 is a bit larger than the Samsung Galaxy S4 – no offence it is a phablet. As a matter of fact, the Galaxy Note 2 is only 0.5 inches larger than the Galaxy S4 as the Galaxy Note 2 is having a 5.5 inches screen and the Galaxy S4 is having a 5 inches screen. Therefore, it is likely to be said that the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 can give you a more realistic gaming experience than the Galaxy S4.
But still for some people with small hands, a screen as large as 5.5 inches might not be suitable; considering that he/she would only use it for a typical phone purpose. However, there is still another factor which must be taken into consideration which is that the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 would only give you a realistic gaming experience but will still not be efficient enough with the graphics as compared to the Galaxy S4 because the Note 2 has a 1280×720 resolution and 267 ppi where as the Galaxy S4 has a full HD resolution with 441 ppi.
Winner – Almost a draw
Processor
Now let us come to the main part, which is the processor of both these smartphones. The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 has a quad-core 1.6 GHz processor whereas on the contrary, the Samsung Galaxy S4 has a 1.9 GHz quad-core processor for its LTE version and an Octa-core 1.6 GHz processor for its HSPA+ version. And as you must have realized that the Galaxy S4 has a better processor in both the cases, hence, the Samsung Galaxy S4 is simply the winner over here because even the RAM of both these devices is the same (2GB).
Winner – Samsung Galaxy S4
Camera
As I always say that the camera of a smartphone is one of the main things which is to be considered when buying a smartphone therefore I always tend to discuss the camera in a comparison as much as possible. So let’s begin now, the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 has an 8MP rear facing camera and a 1.9 MP front facing camera and on the other hand, the Galaxy S4 has a 13 MP rear facing camera and a 2 MP front facing camera. As result, I am inclined to say that the Galaxy S4 is the winner when it comes to the camera because apart from the pixel density, the Galaxy S4 also has a lot of news photo capturing features which the Galaxy Note 2 does not have.
Winner – Samsung Galaxy S4
Operating System / Battery
There are still a lot of other important things left as well which must be noted in this comparison. Firstly, the Battery of these devices must be taken into account because there is a huge difference in the mAh value of the battery of both these devices. The Samsung Galaxy S4 has a 2600 mAh battery pack and the Galaxy
Note 2 has a massive 3100 mAh battery. But again, when it comes to the operating system, the Galaxy S4 again levels the difference because it is running on Jelly Bean 4.2.2 whereas the Note 2 is still one step behind and is running on Android 4.1.2.
Winner - Draw
As you must have seen above that in almost all the areas, the Samsung Galaxy S4 is the winner, and even in the areas where it is not winning, even then, it is not loosing but is putting in a draw. Therefore, I must announce the overall winner to be the Samsung Galaxy S4
